Level 1 – Foundations of Hindi:
At this stage, learners focus on the basics of the Hindi script (Devanagari) and pronunciation. They begin using simple pronouns like "I", "you", and "he/she", and form basic present tense sentences such as "He goes to school." Vocabulary development includes colors, numbers, and words related to home and family. Learners practice introducing themselves and asking questions like "What is your name?" or "Where are you from?" They also start asking and answering basic questions using "what", "who", and "where". There’s an emphasis on matching nouns with appropriate adjectives, as well as understanding how to pronounce vowels and consonants clearly. Simple command sentences such as "Sit down" or "Get up" are also introduced.
Level 2 – Building Sentences and Daily Use:
Learners progress to plural forms of nouns and adjectives and begin using basic past and future tense constructions (e.g., "I went", "I will go"). They learn common conjunctions like "and", "but", and "because" and start describing daily routines and telling time. Vocabulary expands to include parts of the body and health-related terms. Functional language like asking for prices while shopping or describing a place (e.g., "What is the school like?") is introduced. Learners also explore how to talk about weather and express simple emotions or preferences such as "I like it."
Level 3 – Expressing Experiences and Opinions:
At this level, students learn to distinguish between similar verbs (like "to give" vs. "to take") and use reflexive and emotional verbs (like "to fight", "to be scared"). They practice talking about habitual actions in the past ("I used to study every day") and how to ask for permission or make suggestions ("Can I go?"). Comparative sentences like "He is taller than me" are introduced. Learners also describe events and news, discuss travel and tourism, express future plans, and use complex sentences with conditional structures ("If..., then..."). They start learning to suggest solutions to problems using appropriate language.
Level 4 – Intermediate Fluency and Nuance:
Students delve into different verb voices (active, passive, and impersonal), and begin using idioms and proverbs (such as “losing face” or “raising hands”). They explore the differences between formal and informal speech and learn the vocabulary and structure used in news writing. Expressions of criticism and praise are practiced, along with how to agree or disagree politely. Learners form more complex sentences to describe cause and effect, talk about events across different time frames, and participate in interview-style dialogues. They also begin articulating their thoughts, opinions, and viewpoints more clearly and fluently.
Level 5 – Advanced Expression and Academic Skills:
This level focuses on formal writing such as essays, congratulations, invitations, and official letters. Learners begin presenting structured arguments and proposals and participate in discussions about politics, society, and culture. Their use of refined adjectives and adverbs improves, and they learn the components of effective public speaking. They explore deeper storytelling techniques and literary styles, using metaphors, similes, and other figures of speech. Traditional literary forms like couplets (doha) and poetic verses (sher) are introduced. Both oral and written argumentation skills are developed.
Level 6 – Mastery and Literary Depth:
At the highest level, learners engage in interpreting complex literary texts and writing thoughtful reviews of books and films. They analyze culturally and historically significant works, and develop a rich vocabulary along with a distinctive writing style. Creative writing takes center stage, encouraging stylistic experimentation. Learners practice delivering speeches in complex socio-political contexts and develop layered, critical arguments in discourse. Translation exercises—both from Hindi to other languages and vice versa—are included. Writing at this level reflects emotional depth and intellectual complexity, and students gain a comprehensive understanding of major periods and movements in Hindi literature.
